МУЗЫКА ПЕЧАЛИ — THE MUSIC OF SORROW
Назначение предлагаемых ниже оздоровительных медитаций – очищение сознания слушателя от неосознанных и невыраженных в своё время эмоций. Неспособность осознавать и выражать свои чувства вовне в современной психотерапии называется алекситимией. Эта неспособность, воспитываемая условиями культуры, является причиной многих серьёзных психосоматических заболеваний, начиная от сердечно-сосудистых, и кончая онкологией.
Главными среди этих эмоций оказываются негативные чувства обиды и вины, которые тяжелым грузом лежат в душе человека. Избавление от них – покаяние и прощение, которые осуществляются в диалоге с самим собой и представлении на экране мысленного взора того человека, которого или мы обидели, или который обидел нас. Часто этими людьми оказываются самые близкие нам люди. Надо мысленно представить их, войти с ними мысленный диалог, как это практикуется в гештальт-терапии, и простить им те обиды, которые они нам причинили. Обида, помимо депрессии, почти всегда связана с гневом, но мы не можем выразить этот гнев, потому что он направлен против любимого нами человека. И остаётся только одно простить. Прощение должно быть полным и безоговорочным, только тогда человек сможет отпустить от себя свою обиду и тем самым облегчить свою душу.
Чувство вины за нечаянно причинённое нами зло другому человеку – тоже очень тяжелое чувство и от него надо избавляться. Многие люди не знают, как это делать. В этом случае надо осознать свою ошибку, чистосердечно покаяться в ней и впредь больше таких ошибок не совершать.
Вы будете слушать музыку, а на экране будут проплывать медитативные тексты. Подобные тексты я обычно произношу на своих открытых сеансах по музыкальной терапии. Тексты эти, конечно же, не совершенны, но они составлены с учётом достижений всей мировой психотерапии. Они, как показывает мой опыт, способны программировать сознание слушателя в нужном для музыкотерапевта направлении, с тем, чтобы избавить его от негативных переживаний.
Для проработки внутреннего конфликта, неотреагированных эмоций желательно прослушивать произведение в медитативном погружении три-четыре раза подряд (текст повторяется 4 раза; музыку можно начать сначала при помощи панели управления в левом верхнем углу окна). Следует немного прикрыть глаза и медленно произносить про себя слова медитации, которые будут плавно проплывать на экране. Очень важно поддерживать ритм уреженного дыхания, при котором выдох в 3-4 раза длиннее вдоха. Каждая пьеса предваряется прелюдией.
Методические комментарии к музыкальным произведениями для слушания
На СД-диске «МУЗЫКА ПЕЧАЛИ» предлагаются печальные произведения для изживания депрессивных и меланхолических состояний. Для повышения эффективности воздействия не рекомендуется во время прослушивания заниматься посторонними делами. Следует как можно сильнее постараться сконцентрироваться на переживании и вспоминать ситуацию, которая служит предметом навязчивости.
- Поезд из прошлого. Характер музыки нацелен на изживание навязчивых состояний и ажитированной депрессии. Навязчивость передаётся ритмом ударных инструментов.
- Осень любви, Славянский танец Дворжака, Тегеран-43, Одинокий трубач. Пьесы имеют минорный лад и примерно один и тот же ритм. Их можно рекомендовать для общего успокоения и изживания меланхолической печали.Рекомендуется синхронизировать дыхание в ритм музыке по принципу – на одну четверть вдох и на три четверти выдох. Такое ритмизованное дыхание хорошо успокаивает эмоциональное состояние. Может быть рекомендовано при таких психосоматических заболеваниях, как астма, гипертония, сердечная недостаточность.
- Сожаление и утешение. Пьеса написана в виде диалога двух инструментов – успокаивающей гитары и «сожалеющего» саксофона. Во время прослушивания для достижения оздоровительного эффекта можно сделать вербализацию данного диалога, как это рекомендуется в практике гештальт-терапии в методике «Собака сверху» и «Собака снизу».Известно, что как только в сознании начинает звучать диалог двух голосов и возможность рассмотрения проблемы с разных точек зрения, то естественным образом из него уходят идеи самообвинения и самонаказания. Это естественным образом улучшает психоэмоциональное состояние.
- Печальный ангел. Пьеса нацелена на припоминание событий из детского периода жизни в возрасте от 4-х до 10-ти лет, которые могли бы травмировать детскую психику. Можно с позиции современного взрослого человека мысленно пожалеть этого ребенка, сказать ободряющие слова и погладить себя «маленького» по голове по голове. Стоит поразмышлять о том, каким образом детская травма повлияла на стиль жизни и опыт разрешения проблем во взрослом состоянии, как это делается в методах психотерапии, разработанных в своё время А. Адлером.
- Молитва. Пьеса может прослушиваться в трех вариантах.
Первый вариант. Техника Любящее внимание. Первоначально следует синхронизировать дыхание в такт музыке по принципу – на одну четверть вдох и на три четверти выдох. Затем следует мысленно обратиться в заболевшему органу и направить в него энергию любящего внимания, мысленно желая ему здоровья и хорошего состояния. Можно на больное место положить руку и согревать больное место теплом руки. Как показывает практика такой простой и нехитрый прием оказывает значительное облегчение состояния.
Второй вариант. Погружение в ресурсное состояние и вспоминание приятных моментов жизни, когда было ощущение безопасности и абсолютного спокойствия.
Третий вариант. Использование приёма «терапия материнской любовью», разработанный Б.З.Драпкиным. Для этого представить себя маленьким ребенком, находящегося на руках матери, говорящей ласковые и ободряющие слова.
МУЗЫКА НАДЕЖДЫ — THE MUSIC OF HOPE
Задача музыки с этого СД-диска – приобретение внутренней душевной легкости, свободы и воспитание навыка проживать жизнь в легком весе, когда у человека всё легко получается, а все трудности кажутся легко преодолимыми. Негативных эмоций в жизни почти каждого человека, как правило, больше, чем положительных. И эти эмоции обладают большой инерционной силой. Поэтому надо работать над собой, чтобы не быть захваченным надолго теми переживаниями, которые отравляют нам жизнь.
Методические комментарии к музыкальным произведениями для слушания
Музыкальные произведения этого диска направлены на активизацию организма. Большинство из них написано в мажорном ладу и в быстром темпе.
- Григ. «Хоровод гномов и песня Сольвейг». Пьеса написана в стиле «евро-транс» и направлена на изживание беспокойства и тревоги.
- И.С. Бах. Прелюдия До минор. Условное название – «Иди вперед и не сдавайся!» Пьеса может использоваться для энергетической мобилизации и пробуждения здоровой агрессивности в целях психологической защиты границ Я. При третьем повторении на соло гитары можно рекомендовать сочинение стихов, пробуждающих стремление к достижению цели.

Dear music lovers!
The disc you are holding now is a unique practical aid that will help you to overcome various psychological difficulties by way of music listening and maintain perfect health in these days of universal unrest. The main principle of musical therapy lies in stabilization of a listener’s emotional state through elimination of negative emotions and filling the consciousness with positive energy. Psychosomatic medicine, which is successfully developing nowadays, declares quite equitably, that majority of our illnesses originate in disorder of our emotional sphere. We cannot but recall here Plato’s statement that the greatest mistake usually made by physicians is in trying to heal human body rather than treat human soul before. These words prove valid in our days too. As the author’s profound conviction has it, the best way to treat a soul that has fallen ill is through contact with another soul that is perfectly sound. This may be both the personality of a psychotherapist and images of art bringing about the feeling of health and happiness.
These two CDs contain musical pieces arranged in two groups – The Music of Sorrow and the Music of Hope. Healing and invigorating effect of the offered musical excerpts is secured through achievement of their psycho-emotional response to the listener’s inner psychological condition accompanied by replacement of the listener’s negative condition with a positive one. All the included musical pieces have undergone experimental testing during sessions conducted by the author with participation of various groups of listeners and have shown pronounced psychotherapeutic effect, which has manifested itself in heightening the listeners’ spirits and raising the level of their self-estimation.
Similarly as we don’t feel well physically due to lack of certain vitamins and microelements in our food, we experience spiritual indisposition, when our inner emotional sphere lacks certain emotions. And our emotions are the result of man’s thousand year long evolution being deeply rooted in remote past.
According to S. Freud’s disciple Carl Young, unconscious collective experience of every people – myths, traditions, legends – contain reoccurring images and subjects that are basically interrelated. These fundamental images were defined by C. Young as archetypes. They signify certain meanings, values and forms of emotional state. Archetypes promote survival of a tribe, clan and an entire people in complicated circumstances of life. They can be traced in human psyche by way of dreams and entering so called alternate states of consciousness. In C. Young’s concept these may be the following main archetypes:
- Child, which symbolizes spontaneity, high level of internal positive energy, ingenuousness and capability of creative activity.
- Mother, which embodies altruistic principles in a person, feelings of unity with mother, as well as with nature, and of dissolution in it going as far as losing self-identification.
- Hero, which personifies aspiration to struggle for liberty and independence, to overcome each and every obstacle.
- Anima, symbolizing female principle in a man, languor and aspirations, which contain requirements of compassion and recognition.
- Animus – male principle in female psyche.
- Old Man, who personifies philosophic approach to life, wisdom of experience, knowledge of principles, rules and social prescriptions and limitations.
Each one of these archetypes has perfectly outlined emotional content, which can be expressed by sounds of music. A weak representation of a certain archetype in an individual consciousness leads to emergence of corresponding emotional problems in this individual in the form of deficiency in personal style of life, i.e. lack of either flexibility and spontaneity, or courage and determination, or ability for compassion and altruism. All this leads to corresponding difficulties in interaction with social environment.
Apart from representation in a piece of music of unconscious archetypes, there can also be revealed peculiarities of emotional life of certain psychological types and characters in it. In modern psychology they are revealed with the help of special tests and questionnaires. One of the most widely known and most accurate among the majority of such tests is Minnesota Multiphase Person Inquiry – MMPI. Professional psychologists, who work using this test, can pretty accurately determine, on the basis of its scale profile, which illnesses a given person can be predisposed to. So, for instance, rise of the indices of the first, second, sixth, seventh and eighth scales signifies suppressed aggression and describes the so-called “ulcerous type” of personality.
In usual therapy a doctor, by prescribing use of necessary medicines, influences both somatic and psycho emotional state of his patient, which results in alteration of the patient’s MMPI scale profile. It should be noted that such alteration occurs not only in case of psychic disorders, but in treatment of somatic illnesses as well, such as asthma, stomach ulcer, and high blood pressure.
In musical therapy the doctor acts from the other end. He influences the patient’s emotional condition by suggesting listening and singing of different musical excerpts, which leads to initiation of corresponding bio-chemical processes in the body, resulting in normalization of functional conditions and to eventual recovery.
Each scale of this famous test, disclosing in verbal notions one or another emotional factor of the personality, can be expressed in terms of music.
What follows is a description of the content of emotional configurations according to MMPI scales.
First scale – hypochondria. Reveals a person’s tendency toward increased concern about his or her own health, bringing about various fears and apprehensions. Such person is prone to exaggerate the gravity of his condition to have others to pity him and relieve him of certain obligations. Hypochondriacs are noted for their sluggishness, passive attitude, slow adaptation to a new environment, and loss of balance in a conflict. What is also characteristic of them is absence of feeling of inner freedom, but excessive cautiousness, timidity, exacting approach to themselves and others is predominant.
Listening to slow moving musical pieces that have an apprehensive and sad atmosphere about them helps overcoming and doing away with those conditions. The person grows tired of being permanently alarmed and grieved, while moving over in a natural way to an emotional state, which has more optimism to it.
Second scale – depression. Contains feeling of personal insolvency in the moment of downfall of hopes and further prospects, “contemplative” attitude to life, morbid feeling of guilt and diffidence, lowered evaluation of personal abilities, inner orientation to failure rather than success. The persons in the state of depression often reveal an increased sensitivity towards trouble, incapability of taking decisions, reluctance to build any projects for future, since every obstacle, even insignificant one, is viewed as insurmountable. Reactive depression emerges in response to nervous exhaustion and acts to defend the organism against the psycho-injurious factors. Relaxation to the sounds of sad music considerably alleviates this emotional condition, especially, if one succeeds to merge into a meditative state while listening.
Third scale – hysteria. This scale characterizes people from the point of manifestation of their psychodynamic qualities. The persons, who show high indices on this scale, are notable for general mobility in their moods, gestures, mimics, external attractiveness, brightness and theatricality of emotional manifestation, though lacking profundity. They strive to seem more important than they really are. Hence come aspirations for power, desire to display, love for attractive attire, carnivals and other festivities. Accentuation according to hysterical type reveals that tears are easily followed by laughter with this type of people, and vice versa laughter by tears. Their behaviour is motivated by desire to impress those around along with unquenchable thirst for universal social encouragement. Hence – repeatedly occurring complaisance and ostentatious altruism that may quickly be succeeded by capriciousness and petty conflict-seeking.
Fourth scale – psycopathy. This scale reveals a person’s tendency towards impulsive excitability and liberty of behaviour. High indices show susceptibility and disposition to conflicts, bursts of uncontrolled anger, ambition and aggressiveness, high self-evaluation and inclination to adventure, absence of critical attitude toward one’s own actions and “easy approach to hard problems”.
Fifth scale – Manliness-femininity. Discloses predominance in a person of masculine or feminine features. The archetype of Hero is marked by manliness, while that of Anima and Mother – by femininity. This scale is usually omitted in diagnostics, since evaluation of manliness or femininity is based on readings of other scales.
Sixth scale – paranoia. The scale reflects human tendency to being prone to rigidity of psychic processes, which manifests itself at the positive pole through obstinate striving to reach one’s goal, inexhaustible energy, capability to oppose any difficulty and obstacle in life. This kind of people is also conspicuous for their pedantry and passion for super-valuable ideas, which they persistently put in practice.
Seventh scale – psycho-asthenia. Reveals traits of apprehension and anxiety, perpetual doubts, feeling of uncertainty and indecisiveness. Psycho-astheniacs often suffer from exaggerated sense of guilt because of incapability to live in accordance with lofty moral ideals. Alarms and fears, constant doubts as to correctness of choice made, recurrent checking up of what has already been done, fear in the face of new coming events; at the same time – conscientiousness and tactful attitude toward those around, sense of duty and altruism – these emotions constitute psychological content of an astheniac’s inner world. Rise of indices of this scale in combination with the first and second scales speaks for neurotization of personality.
Desired cathartic release when listening to music can be achieved in case anxiety and agitation surpass all conceivable limits and then burst as an abscess on the skin. This is similar to extinguishing fire in the prairie, when they set fire to the other end making both streams of fire move to meet each other. When they collide, the fire goes out.
Eighth scale – schizophrenia. High indices on this scale characterize a person with weak social contacts, the one, who stays permanently within the world of his own. Reticence, reliance on one’s own vision of events, introversion, disposition to abstraction, retirement into the sphere of symbolic constructions and paradoxical inferences are also observed. Such people’s social contacts seem unnatural and awkward because of lack of sensitivity towards others’ feelings.
Ninth scale – Hypomania. Measures the level of optimism and activity. High readings speak of enhanced spirits, love to life, enthusiasm, sociability; but at the same time – of certain light-mindedness in regard to violation of social standards. Emotional instability, disposition to jealousy, easily arousing aggressiveness, boastfulness, importunity and intolerance to objections in an argument are noticeable at accentuation level.
Zero scale – introversion and extraversion. Measures levels of a person’s openness or reticence with regard to social contacts. High indices show introversion, i.e. the individual’s orientation toward the world of his own emotions and interests, reservedness and taciturnity, shyness and vulnerability. The low ones speak of extraversion, urge for social contacts, communication with wide variety of people, search for striking impressions.
The common principle of musical therapeutic effect is reflected in a well-known concept of ancient philosophers, maintaining that “the like is attracted by the like”. Adapted to the tasks of musical psychotherapy it means that one must start listening to the music that corresponds to the scales of MMPI and the mood of the moment. Then one must move away from this mood in the opposite direction listening to musical pieces of opposite nature.
Presented in the Appendix is a concise version of MMPI test, on whose basis a music lover can discover peculiarities of his or her emotional sphere.
THE MUSIC OF SORROW
This disc offers you musical pieces intended for overcoming depressive, hypochondriac, and melancholy moods. To increase the effect it is recommended to avoid any other activities while listening. You should as much as possible concentrate your attention on the emotion produced by the music, plunge into it, as if repeating the melody in your mind, and recall the situation, which is the object for this emotional experience.
1. The Train from the Past.
The piece embodies Young’s archetype Anima. According to MMPI classification this music can be related to the first (hypochondria), the second (depression), and the seventh (psycho-asthenia) scales. This type of music is aimed at elimination of obsessions and agitated depression that are conveyed through the minor harmony, use of septima and nona intervals, and obtrusively alarming rhythm in percussion instruments.
2. Autumn of Love.

- Where Can The Pearl of Bliss Be Found? – Bizet’s Theme – Nadir’s Romance from “The Pearl Fishers”;

The pieces are in their nature close to Young’s archetype Anima. There are expressed in them conditions of interrupted and unfinished actions as well as sufferings caused by unsatisfied need for recognition and compassion. According to MMPI scales they can be attributed to the first (hypochondria), the second (depression), and the seventh (psycho-asthenia) scales, which is expressed through minor harmony and similar metro-rhythm. They are good for general relaxation and elimination of melancholy sadness. It is recommended to synchronize breathing to the rhythm of the music on the following basis – breathing in to one fourth and breathing out to three fourths. Such rhythmical breathing is very efficient in calming down emotions of anxiety and alarm. It can be recommended to treat such psychosomatic illnesses as asthma, high blood pressure, and cardiac deficiency.
3. Regret and Consolation.
Young’s archetypes of Mother and Anima. MMPI scales – the first, the third and the seventh. The piece is composed in the form of a dialogue between two instruments – “consoling” guitar (Mother) and “regretting”, “suffering” saxophone (Anima). To achieve a better healing effect while listening, verbalization of the dialogue can be done as it is recommended in practice of Gestalt-Therapy by F. Pearles in his method of “The Dog Above” – “The Dog Below”. It is known that as soon as a dialogue of two voices and the possibility of viewing the problem from different points begin to sound in one’s mind, ideas of self-accusation and self-punishment leave it in a quite natural way. This factor naturally improves psycho-emotional condition of an individual.
4. The Lonely Trumpeter; Forgive Me, Sad Angel.
The pieces are kindred to Young’s archetype Mother. In MMPI system the atmosphere of these pieces is close to the first, second, and zero scales.
The pieces are aimed at recollection of sad events from childhood, from the age of 4 to 10 years, that could injure a child’s psyche. The method is borrowed from Adler’s classical works on exploration of early reminiscences. One can, being a grown-up modern person of our day, pity in one’s mind “his” or “her” child, address encouraging words, and pat “little oneself” on the head. It is worth thinking it over, how a childhood trauma influenced entire life-style and experience of solving problems in adult state, as it has been done by psychotherapeutic methodology, worked out in his day by A. Adler.
5. The Prayer.
The piece corresponds to Young’s archetype Old Man. The MMPI scales – eighth and zero, which reflect the state of withdrawal from outer world and immersion in the inner world of one’s own. It may be used for listening in three varieties.

The piece is arranged in the style of “Euro-Trans” and is directed towards general activization and awakening of inner motivation for achievement of a goal. By repeated listening may be used for elimination of feeling of anxiety, alarm, and obsessions.
4. Run, A Theme from F.E. Bach, Sol-fa.
It reflects Young’s archetypes Child and Anima. The MMPI scales – first, third, and seventh. The piece is intended for impairing and softening rigidity of neural processes. When listening to this as well as to other lively pieces it is useful to do various physical exercises to the rhythm of the music, as it is practiced in dancing therapy and in aerobics.
5. Move Easier, Don’t Lose Spirit.
These pieces express emotional condition of Young’s archetype Child. The MMPI scales – fourth and sixth, without significant raises. The pieces can be used for strengthening of optimistic outlook, as well as for building up motivation for doing physical exercises. You may use elements of the oriental gymnastics Nishi, shaking up and vibrating your hands and feet in turns.
6. Samba “Hope”, Mambo-Beat.
These are pieces of exultant nature. They express the archetype of Hero, who achieved his goal and is celebrating his victory in company of his friends. The MMPI scales – fourth, sixth, and ninth. In some episodes of Mambo-Beat there sound signs of the fourth scale. These pieces are useful for raising energetic tonus and promotion of high self-estimation and defense of personal SELF from encroachments from other people.
7. Those Days Are Sure To Come Back Again.

The piece is aimed at reinforcing of the power of personal SELF and energetic motivation of the movement towards one’s goal. It may be used for discharging muscular cramps in legs and arms. To achieve this end you are advised to stump your feet and imitate a boxer’s punches in the air, as it is practiced in the body-oriented therapy. You should pay attention to synchronization of your movements with the stomach breathing.
9. Be Joyful and Happy.
The archetype of Hero. It reveals the state of a person, who enjoys life. The MMPI scales – fourth, and sixth. The piece is composed in a jazz style and is aimed at activization of energetic potential.

All the themes of both discs are presented in the unified rhythm in this final piece. The aim of the entire second disc “Hope” is to supplant the negative experience, characteristic of the first disc “Sorrows”.
